RFID
The AP wire is running a story about the advent of RFID chips and how they will improve the management of stock for retailers.
It uses the example of 500 Walmart stores and how they improved with the use of this tiny chip implanted into the products.

However, there is a darker side of RFID chips. Katherine Albrecht has done great work on this. How would you like an identifying chip in almost everything you purchase, including your clothing?
This may sound furturistic but its actually a very real possibility. Although the uses of such chips may be purely for marketing purposes, how creepy would that be to be tracked by the jeans you are wearing?
If anything, it sounds very Orwellian, and I'm not sure why we live in a society that is obsessed with tracking people 24/7. What truly can be gained by that?
