Give me a break!

A middle school student was suspended for sharing a piece of Jolt gum, which contains caffeine.

The gum is "a stimulant that has no other redeeming quality," said Amy Palermo, schools superintendent.

Products acting as a stimulant are prohibited and possessing them is grounds for disciplinary action, and the suspension was mainly based on the girl's decision to share the gum, she said.

Okay, caffeine is a stimulant, but it's a legal one last time I checked.  Although technically, I can see the school's point, don't they have bigger issues to deal with??

I am concerned about a society that is so bogged down in non-issues when the big ones go undiscussed.
