Rape on the decline
If you feed yourself too much news, you can rapidly come to the conclusion that the world is dark and getting more so.
Perhaps, though, we just forget to look for the light, or maybe we simply have been trained to filter it out.
For instance, there's evidence to suggest rape is rapidly on the decline in the US.
I call that very good news. Violent crime in America has been receding for over ten years, but rape has declined by 25% since its peak in 1992.
Can I attribute this to anything in particular? No, but it's a piece of light to hold onto. We're not all bad.
In some ways, we are definitely improving.
