Mel Gibson
I am not one to wish ill on anyone, especially movie stars; therefore, I am not going to say I am enjoying Mel Gibson's evisceration by the press and the humiliation it is probably causing him and his family.
However, in Mel's case, hasn't he brought a lot of this upon himself? When you are in the public eye, and you come across as consistently intolerant and self righteous as he has, isn't it likely that all that negativity will eventually come back to, as they say, bite you in the ass?
DUI and anti-Semitism are two of the biggest taboo issues in today's society. I can't pretend know how they might be linked in Gibson's case, but I do know that society can be very forgiving for a person that comes across as not only apologetic but fair minded and kind to begin with.
Society has forgiven many stars all kinds of grievances, and I am not saying that they won't forgive Gibson his transgressions, but as an individual, it seems like Gibson deserves his day of comeuppance more than, say, Hugh Grant or George Michael did. And the reason for that is, I liked Grant before his incident and I simply feel sorry for Michael.
In Gibson's case, neither applies. He's consistently put out negative engery for years, and in that I am including the Jesus movie, which I believe to be the hugest example of mass pornography every launched on the public.
I hope out of all of this Gibson at least finds his heart and changes his approach a bit. If anything, his Catholicism demands it.
